Interactive Periodic Table

Welcome to the interactive periodic table! Click on an element to learn more about it.

What is the periodic table?

The periodic table of elements (PSE) is a table in which all chemical elements are arranged. It was developed by the chemists Mayer and Mendeleev.

In the periodic table, elements are arranged by increasing atomic number (number of protons in the atomic nucleus). Elements with similar chemical properties are in the same column (group).

The colors in the above interactive periodic table indicate the different element groups:

  • Nonmetals
  • Noble gases
  • Alkali metals
  • Alkaline earth metals
  • Metals and metalloids
